What Privacy Guardian is — and isn't

This is beta software. Privacy Guardian is actively being developed. Features may change, results may improve or shift, and the tool may be updated, restructured, or taken offline without advance notice. Use it with that in mind.

01 What this tool is for

Privacy Guardian is a free, browser-based awareness tool that helps individuals understand the kinds of data they may have shared with major online platforms, and what that data might suggest about how they're being profiled for advertising.

It is intended for personal, educational use only — specifically, to help you make more informed decisions about your own privacy. It is not a professional service, not a legal audit tool, and not a data verification platform.

02 How results are generated

Privacy Guardian's analysis is based on keyword pattern matching and frequency analysis of the data export files you provide. The tool scans your files for recognized terms and categories, then estimates what those patterns might suggest about your advertising profile.

Important: Privacy Guardian does not have access to actual platform advertising data, real-time ad-targeting parameters, or internal platform databases. Results are inferred estimates — they represent what your data might suggest, not what platforms have definitively concluded about you.

Results should be understood as directional and approximate. They may be incomplete, imprecise, or reflect outdated data depending on when you exported your files.

03 What you should and shouldn't do with results

You're welcome to use your results to:

  • ✓Understand your own data footprint and make informed privacy choices
  • ✓Decide whether to adjust your privacy settings on platforms
  • ✓Share findings with friends or colleagues for educational conversation
  • ✓Learn about how behavioral advertising and data profiling work

Please don't use results to:

  • ✕File legal claims or complaints against platforms based on tool output — results are estimates, not verified evidence
  • ✕Make consequential decisions (financial, medical, legal, etc.) based solely on this tool's output
  • ✕Commercially harvest or process data from other people using this tool
  • ✕Scrape, automate, or mass-process data through this interface

04 No warranties

Privacy Guardian is provided "as is" without any warranties, express or implied. We make no guarantees about:

  • →The accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any analysis result
  • →Compatibility with all browsers, devices, or data export formats
  • →Continuous availability of the tool
  • →That results will match what any platform actually holds or uses

The keyword matching logic underlying the analysis is a best-effort approximation. Platforms change their data formats, categories evolve, and our pattern libraries are updated periodically but are never exhaustive.

05 Limitation of liability

Data Driven Tech LLC is not liable for any loss, damage, or harm arising from your use of, or inability to use, Privacy Guardian — including but not limited to decisions you make based on tool output, technical errors, or data processing inaccuracies.

This limitation applies whether the claim is based on contract, tort, or any other legal theory, and regardless of whether we were advised that such damages were possible.

In short: use your judgment. This tool can be a useful starting point for understanding your privacy exposure, but it's one input among many — not a definitive verdict.

06 Acceptable use

By using Privacy Guardian, you agree to use it only for its intended purpose: personal privacy awareness. You agree not to:

  • ✕Use this tool to process other people's data without their consent
  • ✕Attempt to reverse engineer, extract, or misuse the tool's source code for commercial purposes
  • ✕Use automated systems to drive large volumes of traffic or data through the tool
  • ✕Misrepresent tool output as fact in any legal, regulatory, or professional context

07 Beta software and changes

Privacy Guardian is in active beta development. This means:

  • →Features and results may change between versions without notice
  • →The tool may be updated, temporarily unavailable, or restructured at any time
  • →These Terms may be updated as the product matures — the date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision

Continued use of the tool after a Terms update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

08 Privacy

Your use of this tool is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what data we do and don't collect, and how your files are processed entirely within your browser.

The short version: we don't collect your files or your results. Everything runs locally.
