๐Ÿ”’ PRIVACY POLICY

We don't want your data.

Privacy Guardian is a tool built to help you understand your own data โ€” not to collect it. Here's exactly what that means in practice.

Last updated: April 2026

โšก Quick summary

  • ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ Everything runs in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to any server. All analysis happens locally on your device using JavaScript.
  • ๐Ÿšซ No accounts, no tracking, no profiles. We don't know who you are, and we don't try to find out. There's no login and no way for us to link a session to you personally.
  • ๐Ÿ’พ Session data stays in your browser. Any data stored during your session lives only in your browser's localStorage. You can clear it at any time.
  • ๐Ÿ“Š The DataDriven website may log basic page visits. Like most websites, we may collect anonymous page-level analytics (e.g., which page was loaded). No file contents or analysis results are ever included.

01 What we collect

When you use Privacy Guardian on the DataDriven Tech website, here's what may be collected:

  • โ†’ Basic page analytics โ€” The DataDriven Tech website may use standard web analytics (such as Google Analytics) to track page-level visits. This may include your approximate geographic region, browser type, and which pages you viewed. This data is aggregated and anonymous. It does not include anything you upload or analyze.
  • โ†’ No file content is ever collected. Files you load into Privacy Guardian are read by your browser's FileReader API. They are never sent over the network. We have no technical means of receiving them.
  • โ†’ No analysis results are collected. The output of the tool โ€” your privacy profile, inferred interest categories, ad exposure estimates โ€” is computed entirely in your browser and never leaves your device.

02 What we don't collect

To be completely clear, Privacy Guardian does not collect or transmit:

  • โœ•Your name, email address, or any identifying information
  • โœ•The contents of any files you load into the tool
  • โœ•Your analysis results or privacy score
  • โœ•Your search history, interests, or inferred categories
  • โœ•Any data from Google Takeout, Meta exports, or Microsoft data packages you process
  • โœ•Cookies used for tracking or advertising purposes
  • โœ•Device fingerprinting data

03 How your data is processed

Privacy Guardian uses your browser's built-in FileReader API to read files you select. The files are parsed in memory using JavaScript running entirely within your browser tab. No network requests are made during analysis โ€” you can verify this yourself using your browser's developer tools (Network tab).

The tool accepts data exports from:

  • โ†’Google Takeout โ€” including MyActivity.json, Interests.json, and Watch history files
  • โ†’Meta Data Export โ€” including ads_interests.json and related activity files
  • โ†’Microsoft / Bing โ€” pilot support for select data export formats
Demo mode uses entirely hardcoded sample data built into the application. No real files are needed or used in demo mode. The sample profiles shown are fictional.

Results are directional estimates based on keyword pattern matching and frequency analysis of your export data. They are not verified facts, and Privacy Guardian does not have access to actual platform ad-targeting data. Think of the output as an informed estimate, not a forensic audit.

04 Data storage and session clearing

To preserve your analysis between page reloads, Privacy Guardian stores session data in your browser's localStorage. This is local to your device and your browser โ€” it is not synced to any cloud or server.

Stored session data may include your analysis results and selected preferences from that session. It does not store the raw contents of your uploaded files.

To clear this data, you can use the "Clear Session" option within the tool, or clear your browser's site data for this page via your browser settings (Settings โ†’ Privacy โ†’ Clear browsing data โ†’ Cached data and cookies for this site).

Closing the browser tab does not automatically clear localStorage. Use the in-app clear option or browser settings if you want to remove stored session data.

05 Third-party services

The DataDriven Tech website may include third-party analytics scripts (such as Google Analytics). These services may set cookies or collect standard browser information (IP address region, user agent, pages visited) under their own privacy policies.

These analytics apply to the website โ€” they do not have access to anything you process inside the Privacy Guardian tool itself. No analysis results, file data, or inferred personal information reaches these services.

For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.

Note: Privacy Guardian is a single-file web application with a strict Content Security Policy that blocks outbound network connections during analysis. This is an intentional design choice to ensure your data cannot leave the browser.

06 Your rights

Because we don't collect personal data, there's very little here for us to hand over or delete. But here's what you can do:

  • โ†’Clear your session data at any time using the in-app option or your browser's site data settings
  • โ†’Run the tool offline โ€” once the page is loaded, the analysis works without an internet connection
  • โ†’Inspect the source code โ€” Privacy Guardian is a single HTML file. You can view the full source in your browser (Ctrl+U / Cmd+U) to verify our claims

If you're in the EU and have questions about GDPR applicability given our minimal data collection, or if you have any other privacy concern, please contact us directly.
